002 (The Public Trust)

Title: How I Discovered Art

Description: Growing up in Winnipeg and experiencing the ballet.

What's the story?: As I was growing up in Winnipeg, I had the opportunity, through school in the 1960-70s, to experience the Royal Winnipeg Ballet dancing in the school. I had never seen such a thing! Or heard that sort of music - as I grew up in an impoverished (in more ways than one) household. Since then, I have sought out art wherever I am.

What does this donation mean to you?: Sent me down a road of discovery.

Description: The story of what we eat and how it shapes who we are.

What's the story?: The importance of food on our health. Are you what you eat? OR can you exceed/meet your expectations of who you are - think your diet? It's time to deconstruct supper. We have the opportunity - conscious cooking.

What does the donation mean to you?: My contribution - my words and what it calls forth - about how we feel about our food.

What's the story?: I wrote this with and for the Toronto Asian Arts freedom school - an all Asian writer's workshop. The piece is about me.

What does this donation mean to you?: That I'll be famous.
